What part can TURN play in home-schooling?

The decision to home school any child is not taken likely and what we do understand at TURN is that support and help for those home-schooling ranges from excellent to appalling! We have provided regular and one off sessions for those home schooling young people predominantly in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 but early years and Key Stage 1 and 2 are welcome to attend TURN with parental support.

Most often we provide the setting for a project style, curiosity lead activity over a number of weeks. This can support many aspects of a curriculum, aid engagement and promote wellbeing and good mental health. Increasingly we are working with home schooled families who are wanting some structure and positive learning for their child(ren) away from the home setting  and more focused than a trip or social activity.

Sessions start from £30 for an afternoon or morning session for up to 4 children.  However we do offer two free sessions for any bookings that extend across a full half term. Please get in touch for more information. We do run funded home schooled projects when grants are available please join our mailing list and follow our facebook page for updates on such initiatives in 2021 and beyond.

At the moment we can offer these sessions to individual family units ( those who live in the same household on a permanent basis) as part of the “school day”. Priority at the moment is to young people with an EHCP, a CAMHS or early help referral, those in receipt of a free school meal or those considered to be looked after. However get in touch in any circumstance to discuss your situation and need.
